BF6 Players Agree: Challenges Are Way Too Hard
The release of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 received widespread acclaim, particularly for its flagship multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, live player figures surged to nearly 750,000. Nevertheless, regardless of its fanfare, a growing number of players are protesting against several of the title's hardest challenges, which are necessary to obtain particular firearms.
Gamers have begun using personalized games created through the Portal feature to achieve these objectives, highlighting just how grueling these missions have become.
Understanding BF6 Assignments
Assignments are Battlefield 6's ongoing multiplayer objectives, in contrast to the periodically changed day-to-day and weekly tasks. There are four categories of assignments, but while the majority simply offer outfits and select equipment, completing the weapon assignments is the sole method of acquiring 12 of the 41 main guns present in the game.
Several of these locked weapons could shortly make their appearance on lists of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.
Player Outcry via Reddit
Over on Reddit, players are reasonably sharing their frustrations about how hard and tedious some of these challenges are. A particular gamer highlighted one of the most egregious examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
- Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs
"This task is so atrocious and totally unreasonable, I want to tear my hair out," is a comment that illustrates just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.
The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many advantages in battle as it used to in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.
Additionally, firing an LMG without aiming is highly imprecise and functions solely at extremely close range, which is not usually a position you aim to be. The commenter also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that task would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and vice versa.
Another Overly Demanding Mission
One more community participant pointed out another ridiculously tough challenge, within the sniper rifle category to obtain the PSR:
- Achieve 150 headshot eliminations from more than 200 meters away with long-range weapons
This is challenging enough on its own, but there's one more key thing to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at such a long range.
There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but because there are just nine maps in the game currently, it restricts you to playing New Sobek City, a particular valley environment, and possibly an additional option if you're lucky if you plan to engage from afar from a significant distance.
The Alternative Method
Nevertheless, a method exists: the custom game tool. This portal feature is a tool that allows you to create personalized matches on the battleground of your choice, featuring computer-controlled players. This allows you can bypass the intended method… but it isn't truly in line with the spirit of the game.
Yet, if doing the challenges in a standard match appears to work against fun, since you must engage in such an unconventional way that offers no advantage to anyone, who can fault a player for finishing these in a private match so squad members are not disadvantaged?
Upcoming Tweaks
It is expected if a number of these missions are adjusted to be less difficult in the coming days or weeks, because should they remain unchanged, a portion of the user base simply will never acquire the gated weapons.
For now, the community continues to share their thoughts on these demanding in-game tasks, hoping for a less arduous player experience in subsequent patches.
